Klara Mirska about the wickedness of one of the Judenrat members, hanging his son.

The Second World War - Testimonies

The Polish writer of Jewish origin Klara Mirska, née Fichman, in her book "In the Shadow of Great Fear" (polish: "W cieniu wiecznego strachu") recalled the story of the son of one of the Judenrat presidents who gave his own son to the Germans:

The son of the chairman of the Judenrat of one of the ghettos was sentenced to death by the Germans. His father brought him to be executed. He would hang him in minutes. Had he not done so, he would have been hanged himself. Such an amazing joke invented by the Germans. The father, whose will to stay alive obscured all feelings of parental love, began to urge his son. He did it in front of the amused Germans and the silent Jews standing in front of the scene: 'Well, quickly take off your shoes! Come on, hurry up, nothing will help you anyway '
